Fasting – Part 1: Can a Text Message Change Your Life?

Earlier this year, there was talk about fasting. This led to prayer about fasting. Eventually, I found myself in the middle of a 21 day fast that included 3 days of nothing but water, then 18 days of “Daniel Fasting” (no bread, nothing that comes from a mother or has a face). The purpose of a fast varies depending on who you ask, but we engaged in ours for a spiritual purpose: to grow in our intimacy with God.

Actually, we had a legal pad page full of things we were praying over, but mostly to trust God for sustaining us and deepen our dependence on Him.

If you haven’t seen this video about texting and driving, watch it. As I watched it, I was amazed at how a few characters of text could have such a tragic impact. A couple of years ago, Kelly Talamo asked about 80 guys on a Friday morning “what’s more dangerous, talking on your cell while driving or talking on your cell with a hands-free/bluetooth while driving?”
