I Asked, You Answered, Our Thoughts

At the end of last year, I invited over 300 people to share with me what areas of life they’d like to see “under control” for 2017. That is to say, under God’s control moving forward… The response was quite revealing, candid, and telling. Below is the chart with your responses.

  • Top 4 drives for change: greater bible engagement, and control over inbox, worry, and overcommitment.

Our thoughts?

Well, if we get the first one right, the other three tend to fall into place. Vision drives it all and knowing God should be the center of our vision. If our focus time with God is on point and the other areas don’t fall into place, we’re a lot more at ease/at peace with the things that don’t fall into place, true?

We have suggestions and help for those seeking answers, accountability, and tools, but we’re holding them for those bold enough to say “I’m serious.” So, if you want to grow in those areas, reach out and we’ll develop a battle plan to go the distance with you.

Update on 2016!!!

As a ministry, it appears we’ve turned a God-ordained corner in 2016. The year before, we were committed to walking away from Seasons of Life Ministries for a time. But, once we made that commitment, it appears God opened up new doors. So, we walked through them.

Newsletter boxes Vision_Newsletter Box That DayThat led to That Day performances in Alpharetta, Cumming, Manassas, VA, and a return to Alpharetta.

WHEW!

Cristine gave her first women’s conference talk for a retreat in Norfolk, VA. Aarron spent several months on a part time job a few days a week while here in Cumming, but also gave Clean Slate leader training to local leaders and earned his Evernote Certified Consultant designation! (For more on how he uses and optimizes Evernote, email him at aarron at zeroinbox.org.

Today, we have two That Day performances already on the books for January with a third in the works for March. With very little effort poured into publicizing our app (Stay in the Word), we’ve reached over 50 mobile devices and are taking a very low key approach to it so we can focus on keeping the main thing the main thing.

Lessons learned: when we take our hands off God’s work and let Him be God, our plans fail and His succeed wildly.

IMG_20161231_155254130 lbs. Lost and Three Words:

Over the past 2 years, Cristine and I have lost a combined total of 130 lbs. and are compiling video to create a series on how we did it. Ultimately, it comes down to stewardship of the body, obedience to God, and the three words that God consistently pops up on our radar: vision, strategy, and execution. Short version: God has radically transformed the way we look at food, our bodies, and stewardship.

While I have several blog post ideas in the works on each of these 3, my goal is to release them only as time permits, in order to keep the main thing the main thing: That Day, Clean Slate, and Discipleship/Coaching.

If you’ve ever wondered what this ministry is about, I’ve compiled a simple document that explains what we’re about in those three words. You can download it here: SOLM Ministry Model.

So, How Did It Go?

Year end giving is always surrounded by uncertainty – did we send out enough information, soon enough? too much information, too late? will regular supporters stay on?

This year, the books closed on 2016 with only a few thousand dollars “in the red” and some surprise gifts large and small coming in right down to the wire. If you were one of those year end supporters – THANK YOU.

Shifting Gears?

that-day-vision-logoAs it became clear the ministry work demanded all of me after my family and not after family and the part time job, I gave appropriate notice and we’re living back out on faith and faith alone so as to maximize my efforts toward the family and That Day, Clean Slate, and Coaching/Discipleship. After our first That Day Leader’s Lunch yielded great fruit, we discovered that God might make it distinctly possible to reach 10,000 people this year with the message of “living every day with eternity in mind.” Until He says differently, we’re joining Him in that pursuit!

If you see value in helping us to help others, please consider us in your regular monthly giving. We need about 5 more regular supporters to join us at $125-200 per month to keep us fully available where we are needed most: partnering with others to keep God’s main thing their main thing.

We’d Love to See You at That Day!

So... much... wasted... time.

So… much… wasted… time.

On Sunday night – January 22nd – Dr. Michael Adams will be hosting the next That Day performance at Holy Trinity Christian Church here in Alpharetta, GA. We’d love for you to see the latest update of the show.

It’s really exciting to see not just how people react to the show, but how the story is changing how they live their lives, share their faith, live their faith, and engage with both God and the people around them. I caught up with a team of pastors and asked them how the story impacted them and their church and the way they described how That Day changed their staff, church, and community included words like “urgency”, “motivated”, “engaged” and “vigilant”.

Sometimes people hear about a play or a one man show and think “Oh, that’s nice. Good luck with that. You’ll do great.” They miss the point.

Others really grasp the concept that we’re sharing a living parable that resonates with people and transforms their faith, keep coming back and inviting friends.

We hope you’ll be among the many that understand That Day is part of a process of understanding God’s vision for our lives, developing a strategy to accomplish it, and executing that strategy regularly until His return to us or our return to Him.

I recommend you come join us for a great evening at HTCC. Share this video with your friends, coworkers, small group, family, etc., buy your tickets online or at the door, and be there on the 22nd at 7PM. It’s a Sunday night and it’s right here in Alpharetta off exits 11 & 12, convenient to Cumming, Alpharetta, Johns Creek & Suwanee. Don’t miss the updated, faith shaping, life changing story!

2017: Resolution or Revolution?

To Resolve or Not to Resolve?

Some swear by New Year’s Resolutions. Others live and die by goals. Still others claim “if you keep your expectations low, you’re never let down.”

This year, by grace alone, I celebrate 15 years clean from porn addiction and 2 years clean from processed sugar. Personally, I love running after goals and I’m grateful for all the Spirit led resolutions God has helped me keep. Nothing like a little repentance here and there to cast aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily entangles so we can run with perseverance the race He set out for us, right?

What if Resolutions Aren’t the Answer?

Most resolutions fail because they’re merely snap decisions based on irritation with current circumstances or a sense of being “sick and tired of x”. Knee jerk course corrections… Resolutions in and of themselves are merely strategies – “what to do” or “what to not do”. The power behind anything in the Christian life is Christ and that power is perfected in our weakness. Tying the what to a “why” helps us actualize that power. Renewing of the mind brings that power to fruition. God ordained vision drives lasting change. In other words, revolution must precede resolution if the change is to stick.

This year, I want us all to fail miserably at our resolutions and succeed wildly at accomplishing what God has set before us. To aid you in that endeavor, here’s a resource you can download, pray about, and work out as the Spirit leads. I wish you God’s best – a clean slate – in the coming year, and thousands of steps in line with God’s will for your life.

A Bible Worth Cheering About

waterproofDo My Eyes Deceive Me?!

Several years ago at a conference, I saw an odd display: a bible propped up under a tabletop fountain where the water streamed plainly down the bold, waterproof pages…

If you know my wife, during that season of our life we had a newborn and a tween. Between all that and carrying twins in her belly, the only time and space that was inviolate for her to really soak in the word of God was… while soaking in the bathtub. The paper bibles had water stains and dogged pages where her wet fingers had left water damage while trying to read in her quiet place. I knew in an instant The Waterproof Bible was exactly what she needed.

Seven years later, she’s really given this thing a workout… Take a look:

Make an Impact Beyond YOU!

VISION, 2017:

Should the Lord tarry, our 2017 vision for That Day is:

Bringing the message of “living everyday with eternity in mind” to 8,000 people in the Greater Atlanta Area and 2,000+ people beyond in 2017.

Aarron, that’s like 10,000 people… How you gonna do that?

Enter, “Leader’s Lunch”!

To reach that many people, we need to tell everyone we can as fast as we can! Can you help? We’ve set up preview events called That Day Leader’s Lunches (TDLL) to give pastors and marketplace ministry leaders a free meal (hey, they’re working hard, right?!) and a live, in person look at the That Day story.

Over 30 pastors and ministry leaders from Newnan to Dawsonville filled the room at our first TDLL and their response and feedback was overwhelmingly positive:

  • “That Day has helped a number of our church members to refocus on the prize that matters! Very creative dramatic interpretation of one of the most important days in all believers’ lives!  – Dean Ropp, Senior Pastor Midway Community Church – SBC, Alpharetta, Georgia
  • “Aarron Pina’s presentation of “That Day” is remarkable, inspiring and life changing. You will laugh and cry throughout the whole event. I was moved and convicted from the very start. Amazing! Every pastor needs to have this presentation in their church.” – Todd Smith, Senior Pastor – Christ Fellowship Dawsonville, GA; CEO/Founder KINEOresources.com”
  • “I cannot imagine any reason why a church or ministry would not benefit from this anointed presentation. It will change lives.– Casey Sanders, Men Step Up
  • “That Day helped me cultivate a more eternal perspective.” – Gary Bulley, Senior Pastor, Living Stones Church, Cumming, GA

Help Us Reach the 10,000!

that-day-vision-logoVISION:

For 2017, we have a vision to reach 8,000 people in the Greater Atlanta area and 2,000+ outside of Georgia with the message of “living everyday with eternity in mind”. With God, this is more than possible.

And, we need your help this month in two ways. First, in support:

We’ve got about a $1,200 need carried over from October that will help us to stay current on all ministry obligations. This will cover fees, marketing materials, and some employee salaries.

We need a microphone for on camera interviews and capturing Clean Slate and That Day testimonials moving forward. It’s about $80 and it will help us bridge the gap between those who are merely thinking about bringing That Day to their church and people who actually bring it there. This would be a big, big help!

nov-2016-calendar-seasonal-by-month-600For November, the most vital need is keeping me fully engaged, fully available, and laser focused on delivering That Day and developing Clean Slate leader training materials for upcoming engagements. If we’re fully funded, I can dedicate 100% of my working hours to doing exactly that. About another $2,700 and we’re there. Maybe 10 of y’all can get together at a little over $100 a piece or invite 100 people to give $25. Let’s reach the 10,000!

Additionally, we’ll have some expenses for the upcoming That Day Leader’s Lunch – roughly $400. If you can give all or part of that, we’d greatly appreciate it and it can help us ensure we reach exactly the pastors, business leaders, and influencers who can bring this life changing message to hundreds more people than we’d planned, possibly months earlier. This month, we have about $700 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds available until the 15th.

To help in any of these areas or to join us as a monthly partner in reaching the 10,000, either text “seasons” to 77977 (normal texting rates, if any, apply) or tap here to use our secure online giving through PushPay.

Second, in prayer:

Pray that the new That Day Leader Lunch goes viral and we have more RSVP’s than we can handle, resulting in a dozen invitations to bring That Day and/or Clean Slate to churches throughout the state and beyond faster than we’d imagined.

Thanks, for partnering with us to make GREAT things happen, reach the unreached, and WAKE… THE… DEAD!!!

Soli Deo Gloria!!!

Maximum Eternal Impact: That Day, 2017

After some high quality, small scale successes with That Day, Seasons of Life Ministries is looking toward our 2017 vision for That Day:

Bringing the message of “living everyday with eternity in mind” to 8,000 people in the Greater Atlanta Area and 2,000+ people beyond in 2017.

Could it happen? Yep.

TDPL-Group-PicBut, it’s going to require God opening some doors that were previously closed – specifically the doors to the hearts of pastors who see the vital importance of developing an eternal mindset. But, pastors are busy and often they can’t respond to every, single opportunity that pops into their inbox. Like me, they know they can’t possibly respond to every request that comes across their desk, so they often automatically reply “no” or just ignore the vast majority without a second look.

So…

…we’ve asked a few of their colleagues to share what they thought of That Day in hopes that it might get our foot into a door or two. Take a look:

  • “That Day has helped a number of our church members to refocus on the prize that matters! Very creative dramatic interpretation of one of the most important days in all believers’ lives!  – Dean Ropp, Senior Pastor Midway Community Church – SBC, Alpharetta, Georgia

That Day Leader’s Lunch – Success!

A Second First?

•••     Yesterday marked our second That Day engagement at Midway Community Church. But, instead of a general audience of 300, for the first time we welcomed an invite-only group of 30 pastors, business leaders, and marketplace ministry types to gather around a BurgerFi lunch to see a “lunch portion” of the show.

TDPL-Group-Pic

30 pastors & ministry leaders attended the first That Day Leader’s Lunch

•••   Pastors, directors, and representatives were present from Perimeter Church, First Baptist Cumming, Echo Ministries, Men Step Up – Gwinnett, and even Cafe1040.

Best Performance, Yet!

“Dan” describes coming before the judgment seat of Christ.

•••     The story was very, very well received and attendees gave some excellent feedback, all of which was extremely helpful. All of those surveyed rated the performance at the top of the scale, including several repeat audience members who said it was the best performance, yet!

•••     More importantly, their reactions to the story all pointed in one direction: whether it’s for the lost surrendering their lives to Christ, awakening sleeping believers, or turbocharging active Christ followers, That Day ups” the urgency.

Help Us Bring That Day to Your Organization

•••     Seasons of Life Ministries has always been deeply committed to discipleship. Discipleship begins with vision – accurate vision of who Christ is and why He has us here. That Day is all about that vision and we’d like to help you bring this story to your church, retreat, date night, outreach or whatever other event you have coming up.

•••     To share the vision of That Day, share our 90 second “teaser” video with your Pastor, Executive Director, or C-level head honcho. Or, if you are said honcho, click here to email us!

Who Cares About Giving Tuesday?

A few years back, it seemed the importance of Black Friday had eclipsed the importance of Christmas and Thanksgiving. People camping out at retail stores to buy “doorbuster” deals? Then, Cyber Monday came on the scene, giving us a chance to take down our pup tents mounted in the Best Buy parking lots and shop in our jammies online. But, was that a good thing?

giving-tuesday-box-08In 2012, the idea of “Giving Tuesday” was born. According to their website, last year over 700,000 people in 70 countries raised over $116,000,000 for charities, non-profits, and other NGO’s worldwide! Maybe the spirit of giving hasn’t been destroyed by the spirit of getting…

This November 29th, #GivingTuesday will see over a million people giving time, talent, and treasure to support the causes they’re most passionate about. This year, it’s quite likely that over a quarter billion dollars will be raised for worthy causes because of Giving Tuesday. At Seasons of Life Ministries, where we help churches, organizations, and marriages get obstacles out of the way of what God has designed them to do, and we only need to see God raise about $30,000 of that… Side note: it’ll take less than $3,000 of that to bring That Day to dozens of churches and organizations throughout the Southeast, exposing hundreds of non-believers to the gospel and refocusing thousands of believers on eternity in the most tangible way possible!

In the coming weeks, we’ll invite you to put your prayer knee pads on, your thinking caps on your heads, and consider giving to Seasons of Life Ministries to help us bring the message of “Why Does God Have Me Here? What Do I Do Next? and How Do I Do It?” or “Vision, Strategy, and Execution… God’s Way” to people all over the metro-Atlanta area and beyond.

Next Thursday will be our first “That Day Leader’s Lunch” where we give away lunch to a bunch of beleaguered pastors and ministry leaders, along with a preview performance of “That Day”. This event will give That Day some much needed exposure to influencers who can bring the message to their churches, organizations, and/or retreats, unleashing greater kingdom impact. If you know someone who ought to be there and deserves a free lunch, send them our video invite card.

If you’d like to jump start our Giving Tuesday matching fund, email us or give online today using either Paypal (to “giving@seasonsoflifeministries.org”) or clicking here to use our secure online giving platform.
